"Characteristics of a Healthy Relationship with Myself"

Recognize I don't belong to myself.

I am God’s property. I belong to God through creation & redemption. (1 Cor 6:19-20; 1 Peter 1:9 John 3:16)

Love God first and love neighbor as myself (Matt 22:36-40).

Take positive steps to develop all my powers-physical, spiritual mental, social

“Our first duty toward God and our fellow beings is that of self-development. Every faculty with which the Creator has endowed us should be cultivated to the highest degree of perfection, that we may be able to do the greatest amount of good of which we are capable. Hence that time is spent to good account which is used in the establishment and preservation of physical and mental health. We cannot afford to dwarf or cripple any function of body or mind. As surely as we do this, we must suffer the consequences.” (Counsels on Diet and Foods, page 15.2)

Know and acknowledge who I am in Christ.

(Ephesians 1-2; 2 Peter1:2-3; Philemon 1:6) These passages reveal who we are in Christ. Most times, we focus on who we are in Adam - sinful, wretched, and weak. In Christ we are already redeemed, forgiven, blessed, sealed, filled with the Holy Spirit, justified and sanctified, more than conquerors. According to Philemon 1:6, our faith becomes effective when we acknowledge who we are in Christ. “…

The communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.

Have a balanced view of myself .

Know my strengths and weaknesses; the heredity and cultivated tendencies that lead me to do good or evil. (Romans 12:3; Matt 16:24).

Choose not to compare myself with others.

Think and act biblically. For as a man thinks in his heart so is he (Proverbs 23:7; Phil 4:8).

Know my strengths and weaknesses; the heredity and cultivated tendencies that lead me to do good or evil. (Romans 12:3; Matt 16:24).
